Our Community

Post19 understands the importance and value of being part of not only our local community but also the wider learning disability community.

Local Community

We work with Farnham in Bloom and have 2 of our own allotments. Past projects with Farnham in Bloom include; planting hanging baskets for around the town centre, helping with the Britain in Bloom competition, entering the Farnham Carnival and maintaining a flowerbed in Farnham.

We have also sent some young adults to volunteer at Farnham Food Bank, organising and labelling the food.

Our young adults have also participated in several community art exhibitions and events including:

We continue to be involved with many community art projects in Farnham and around Surrey and we aim to provide our young adults with a platform to share the beautiful artwork they create, both individually and in groups.

We also have links with ChallengersThe GrangeCreative Response and several other local care providers.

Wider Community

We have close links with local health organisations such as the Surrey Clinical Commissioning Group and the Community Learning Disability Team. The young adults recently helped produce a short online video encouraging staff to work in the care sector “We Care in Surrey”. We also have a young ambassadors programme where the young adults give feedback on local health services with an eye on making reasonable adjustments for people with learning disabilities.

We are a member of the Surrey Care Association and attend regular meetings where we discuss issues faced in this industry and look at how to overcome them.
